Create Your Account
Visit spline.design and sign up with email or Google. Spline is a browser-based 3D design tool that runs entirely in your browser, no download required. The free plan lets you create unlimited public projects. Paid plans unlock private projects, team collaboration, and export options.
After signing in, you’ll land in the project dashboard. Click New Project to open the Spline editor. The interface has a viewport in the center, a toolbar on the left, and a properties panel on the right. It’s similar to Figma or Blender but simplified for web designers.
Start Your First Project
Start with a blank canvas or choose a template from the library. Templates include product mockups, abstract scenes, UI components, and animated logos. Pick one to see how Spline scenes are structured, or start fresh to learn from scratch.
The viewport shows your 3D scene. Use your mouse to orbit (right-click + drag), pan (middle-click + drag), and zoom (scroll wheel). The toolbar on the left has shape tools: cube, sphere, cylinder, text, and image. Click one to drop it into the scene.
Build Your First 3D Scene
Add a few shapes to your scene. Click Cube to insert a box, then use the Transform panel on the right to adjust position, rotation, and scale. Change the material by clicking Material in the properties panel: adjust color, metalness, roughness, or upload a texture image.
Try the Text tool to add 3D type. Spline extrudes text into three dimensions automatically. Adjust depth, bevel, and font in the properties panel. Add a Light from the toolbar to control shadows and highlights. Move it around to see how lighting changes the mood.
Use the AI Generate feature (if available on your plan) to create 3D objects from text prompts: “a coffee mug” or “abstract sculpture.” Spline’s AI generates the geometry, which you can then refine manually. Experiment with animations by clicking Timeline at the bottom and setting keyframes for position, rotation, or scale.
Export and Share
When your scene is ready, click Export in the top right. Choose Code Export to get an embed snippet for your website. Spline generates a lightweight WebGL player that works on all modern browsers. Paste the code into your HTML and your 3D scene loads interactively.
You can also export as Image (PNG screenshot), Video (MP4 animation), or 3D Model (GLB/GLTF for use in game engines or AR apps). Use the Share button to generate a public link where anyone can view and interact with your scene in the browser.
