Review Widget
The Review Widget showcases real customer reviews directly on your website. It pulls reviews from platforms like Google Reviews and Facebook Reviews, combines them into a single branded display, and updates automatically as new feedback arrives. The widget builder gives you complete control over layout, content, styling, and behavior without writing any code.
What Review Widget Does
The widget builder provides eight display formats to match your page design:
List: Reviews stack vertically in a scrollable list, ideal for dedicated testimonial pages.
Grid: Multi-column grid layout showcasing volume and variety on wider sections.
Masonry: Variable-height cards that fill vertical space naturally with a Pinterest-style staggered look.
Carousel: Multiple reviews rotate automatically for homepage sections where visitors see fresh testimonials without scrolling.
Slider: One review at a time with smooth sliding animation, best for hero sections or sidebars.
Floating Badge: Minimal, always-visible badge that sits in a corner and rotates through your best reviews without taking up page space.
Flash: Compact, attention-grabbing format for quick, high-visibility review highlights.
Legacy: Original widget format for backward compatibility with older embeds.
Key Configuration Options
Layout tab: Select review sources (Google, Facebook, or both), choose widget type, set max number of reviews, apply minimum star rating filter (4+ recommended), and toggle the “Powered by” message. Configure AI Review Summaries with Short (1 to 2 sentences), Detailed (3 to 4 sentences), or Action Points format. AI summaries update dynamically as new reviews arrive.
Content tab: Toggle widget title on/off, customize heading and description text, show/hide header summary area with aggregate rating and review count, add “Write a Review” button, set widget position (for Floating Badge), and configure slider interval for Carousel and Slider layouts.
Appearance tab: Choose Light, Dark, or Custom theme. Custom unlocks granular color control for backgrounds, borders, star ratings, review text, buttons, avatars, and summary text. Select font family to match brand typography. Real-time preview shows changes before saving.
Settings tab: Toggle display date, show reviewer icon or initials, exclude reviews with no written description (star-only reviews), and copy embed code for external sites.
Embedding Your Widget
Method 1 (HighLevel sites): Drag the Reviews element onto your Funnel Builder page to pull in your default widget configuration automatically.
Method 2 (External sites): Click the Code icon in widget settings, select the correct widget from the dropdown if you have multiple, click Copy Code, and paste into a custom HTML block. Works with WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, and any platform supporting custom code.
Templates: Click the Templates tab to apply pre-built designs instantly, then click Edit Widget to customize further. Templates handle layout, color, and typography choices out of the box.
Managing Multiple Widgets
All saved widgets appear in the Saved Widgets section where you can rename, edit (changes propagate automatically to embedded instances), or delete widgets. Each widget embeds independently, so you can run different review displays across multiple pages.
Pro Tips
- Filter for quality by setting minimum rating to 4 or 5 stars. Volume matters less than quality when building trust with your strongest reviews only.
- Match your brand with Custom theme to align colors, fonts, and spacing. Native-looking widgets feel more trustworthy than external embeds.
- Choose layout by context. Use Grid or Masonry on testimonial pages. Use Slider or Floating Badge on homepage sections where space is limited but social proof is critical.
- Enable AI summaries for quick reputation snapshots. Short summaries work above the fold. Detailed summaries work on dedicated review pages.
- Keep it fresh by running consistent Review Requests campaigns. Widgets update automatically, and recent reviews signal an active, thriving business.
Common Questions
How do I add multiple review widgets to the same page?
Use the embed code method. Copy the code for each widget individually (select from dropdown before copying) and paste into separate code blocks on the page. The drag-and-drop Reviews element always shows your default widget.
Will my widget update automatically when new reviews come in?
Yes. The widget syncs with connected platforms and new reviews appear automatically based on configured filters. No manual intervention required.
Can I embed a review widget on a non-HighLevel website?
Yes. Copy the embed code and paste into a custom HTML block on any platform. Works with WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, and virtually any site supporting custom code.
Can I edit a widget after embedding it on my site?
Yes. Changes made in the widget builder propagate automatically once you save. You do not need to re-copy or re-embed the code.
What is the difference between Slider and Carousel?
Slider shows one review at a time with smooth transitions for focused single-review impact. Carousel shows multiple reviews that rotate as a group for simultaneous display.
Do AI summaries cost extra?
No. AI summaries are included as part of the reputation management feature set with no additional per-summary charge.
Can I control which specific reviews appear in the widget?
You cannot hand-pick individual reviews, but you can control what appears using minimum rating filter, platform source filter, and the option to exclude reviews without written descriptions. These filters give strong control over displayed review quality.
What happens if I delete a widget that is already embedded?
The embed code will stop rendering reviews. Visitors see nothing or a blank space. Always remove embed code from your site before deleting a widget.
How often does the widget check for new reviews?
The widget syncs regularly with connected platforms. New reviews appear shortly after they are pulled into your Review Monitoring dashboard.
